Today’s featured members, Elke Robshaw and Curt Jordan, co-founders of Kong Academy, said the Kong Academy approach is centered on making learning fun and meaningful for children. Because kids naturally gravitate towards play in almost all areas of their lives, learning critical life skills is faster, easier and meets less resistance when it happens in the form of a game, physical exercise, or activity.
Tell us about your business
Kong Academy empowers children ages 6-10 by developing their social and emotional skills through physical play, games, and movement. We offer fun, educational, and active after-school programs, immersive summer camps, and engaging online content. Our mission is to equip kids with the tools they need to thrive physically, mentally, and emotionally by focusing on skills such as managing emotions, building positive relationships, making responsible decisions, and developing a growth mindset.
Why did you join the Chamber?
We joined the Seattle Metro Chamber to connect with local businesses that care about Seattle, to get involved in policy initiates and advocacy, and to meet other small business owners. It’s a chance to build meaningful relationships, expand our impact, and collaborate with people who value child development, play, and social-emotional learning.
What are you/is your business interested in or what do you need currently?
Right now, we are focused on growing our partnerships with schools and expanding our after-school programs and summer camps. We’re also interested in increasing community awareness of our mission and enhancing our digital reach. We’d love to connect with businesses or organizations interested in supporting children’s development through collaborative initiatives or sponsorships.
