I live in Magnolia and have a studio in my home as well. I am an encaustic/mixed media, collage, and assemblage artist, incorporating vintage and antique documents and found objects/materials. My paintings and assemblage have been published in art books and shown throughout the Northwest. In 2018 I was accepted into a two-week artist residency at Chateau d’Orquevaux in France and a week-long collage residency in Scotland in 2022. I was a founding board member of MAX, Magnolia Art Experience. I work and teach encaustic painting in my Georgetown studio at Fogue Studios and Gallery as well as offer Wax and Wine workshops in the Walla Walla Valley.
Why did you join the Chamber?
In 2015, a group of Magnolia artists (including myself) founded MAX-Magnolia Art Experience, and through this nonprofit, we organized an art walk, sponsored an art tent at the Magnolia Summerfest, and featured local artists in a small gallery space. COVID-19 ended the run of this organization, and we’ve been without an art walk or art presence since then. I’d hoped that by joining the Chamber I could connect with businesses and artists that would like to see the arts grow in our community.
Last year myself and Laura Van Horne (owner of Gray Sky Gallery in Pioneer Square) met on our block to chat and came up with the idea to hold an art market during the farmers market. The farmers market coordinator was thrilled to have us join her. We are on a side street adjacent to the farmers market now for four Saturdays this summer (Aug. 24 and Sept. 21, from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) and after our initial art market was a rousing success last September.
