Following the Sept. 19 Seattle City Council vote to pass Mayor Bruce Harrell’s legislation to align the city code with the state’s Blake fix, Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Rachel Smith issued the following statement:

“Today the Seattle City Council took a step forward in a shared vision to both help those in need and enforce the laws intended to protect our community. We appreciate leaders prioritizing policies aimed at addressing the crisis and deep harm caused by fentanyl and other illegal drugs. In the coming months, we will measure success by the real-world matching the vision: more people getting help, fewer people on the streets, and a measurable reduction in overdose deaths.”
