What is now the deadliest U.S. wildfire in the last century has destroyed as many as 2,700 structures on Maui, most of which were homes, leaving thousands of residents homeless, according to the Red Cross.
Seattle Metro Chamber members are sharing information about how to help Maui in this crisis and in future recovery efforts.
Hawaii Chamber Foundation Business Relief Fund
This fund is dedicated to supporting the businesses and employees impacted by the fires.
Kako’o Maui
The Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement and Alakaina Foundation Family and Alaska Airlines will match money donated for the fund, which will go to Maui organizations to support relief efforts.
Hawaii Community Foundation Maui Strong Fund
The Hawaii Office of the Governor has directed donors to the Hawaii Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund, which is being used for communities affected by the wildfires.
Maui Food Bank
The Maui Food Bank is Maui County’s primary safety net for hunger relief. The Food Bank provides safe and nutritious food to anyone in Maui County who is at risk of going hungry.
World Central Kitchen
World Central Kitchen’s Emergency Response Team is on the ground to support food and water needs for first responders, evacuated residents, and tourists.
Maui United Way
All donations will provide direct relief to families and nonprofits directly affected by the Maui Fire Disaster.
American Red Cross
Anyone who has been affected by the wildfire is welcome to stop by a shelter to get information, a hot meal, charge their phone, pick up relief supplies, and get health services.
Maui Rapid Response
A collective disaster response organization made up of individuals from Maui-Mutual-Aid, Maui-Strong, and a number of nonprofit and direct-aid organizations.
Alaska Airlines
Alaska Mileage Plan members can donate additional miles to Kanu Hawaii by logging into their mileage account. All miles donated to this pool through the month of August will go towards Kanu Hawaii. Alaska will match the first 1 million miles donated.
