Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Rachel Smith has been appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee to serve on the state’s Long-Term Services and Supports Trust Commission.

The appointment is effective as of May 24, 2022 and will expire on June 30, 2023.

For the 2022 Legislative Session, the Chamber made it a priority to fix the Long-Term Care Act so that the tax and associated spending are fair and financially stable, while preserving an opt-out provision for those who select a private plan.

Legislation to delay the start of the program by 18 months to address these fixes passed with bipartisan majorities and was signed by the Governor in January.

The Seattle Metro Chamber held an informational webinar after the program implementation was delayed. You can watch that here.

The Chamber will continue to share updates on the state’s long-term care insurance program with its members.
