On April 26 Seattle City Council passed CB 120303 accepting a $20 million RAISE grant and a $5.5 million Port of Seattle contribution towards the construction of the East Marginal Way Corridor Improvement Project. The Chamber is proud to have written a statement of support to Secretary Buttigieg and the U.S. Department of Transportation for Seattle’s RAISE grant application for this project.
East Marginal Way is a vital hub for our region that links freight yards, businesses, and the Port of Seattle to rail facilities, and Interstates 5 and 90. Updates to this corridor are critical to ensure pedestrian and commuter safety as well as the efficient movement of goods throughout our region.
This project will provide upgrades to traffic signals, improve lighting, and create a protected bike lane—all working to advance safety for users across transportation modes and support jobs and businesses that rely on this major freight corridor.
We thank the Seattle City Council for swiftly passing CB 120303 and moving this project forward.
