April is Arab American Heritage Month, which honours Arab American culture and pays tribute to the contributions of Arab Americans. Today, there are roughly 3.7 million Arab Americans living in the United States;
In 2017, Arab America coordinated an initiative to create National Arab American Heritage Month and it was first introduced to the House by U.S. Congresswoman Debbie Dingell in 2019. Although some individual states observe Arab American Heritage Month in April, a national observation has still not passed. In March 2020, Governor Inslee signed a proclamation in commemoration of National Arab American Heritage Month.
