Following the Council’s unanimous 7-0 vote this afternoon for a bill to streamline permitting for permanent supportive housing, please see the below statement from the Seattle Metro Chamber:

“We applaud the unanimous passage of the Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) bill, which will streamline permitting for PSH, pairing affordable housing with voluntary wraparound services. We appreciate the collaboration between elected officials, businesses, and non-profit leadership to develop this proposal. We particularly commend the leadership of the Third Door Coalition on this important issue and Councilmember Andrew Lewis’ willingness to partner with business leaders to find innovative solutions,” said Alicia Teel, a spokesperson for the Chamber.

She added, “Outdated zoning and arduous design review processes too often create barriers to building the housing Seattle needs. We hope to see more creative and collaborative approaches to moving individuals and families out of homelessness.”
