She will provide some issues you should expect and be prepared for, including OSHA complaints, remote working, layoffs, rehiring, and more.
Tuesday, September 29th, 2020: Workplace Accommodation and the Interactive Process through the Lens of COVID – Presented by Hana Kern. Hana will discuss when and how an employer must provide workplace accommodation. She will review the requirements of, and commonly-asked questions about, the interactive process, and she will address how COVID-related issues affect the employer’s obligations.
Wednesday, September 30th, 2020: Employee Termination Best Practices (During COVID and Beyond) – Presented by Britenae Pierce. Britenae will give employers the legal information and practical tools they need to know about terminating employees, with a special emphasis on terminations during COVID-19. From preparing for terminations, handling the termination itself, and post-termination considerations, this presentation will prepare employers to handle a wide variety of circumstances when facing employee terminations, and to handle them with confidence.
Thursday, October 1, 2020: Top Three New Employment Laws You Missed During the Pandemic – Presented by Shannon Lawless. Washington has experienced three major employment law developments in 2020 unrelated to COVID: (1) our new Paid Family and Medical Leave Act became fully effective, (2) a new law severely restricts non-competition agreements, and (3) the salary basis for the “white collar” (executive, administrative, and professional) exemptions increased significantly at the federal and state levels.
