Matt Hill has been named market president for KeyBank in Seattle, effective immediately.
A familiar name in Seattle-area banking circles, Hill previously worked at KeyBank for nearly seven years, serving as a director and managing director with KeyBanc Capital Markets. He was an inaugural member of the team, which was focused on delivering commercial and investment banking products and services to companies with revenues greater than $75MM.
Most recently he served as market president of commercial banking for Union Bank in the Pacific Northwest. He was promoted into this role from a previous stint as Washington regional manager in 2015 and supervised a team of 12 bankers covering middle market companies in Washington, Oregon and Alaska.
“We are delighted to have someone of Matt’s caliber join our successful team here in the Seattle market,” said Laurie Muller-Girard, west region commercial banking leader. “As a seasoned corporate banking professional, he has a proven track record of developing strong relationships with the C-suite and is an experienced team leader who will be an asset to his new colleagues here in Seattle. And of course, we are always thrilled to welcome a previous employee back into the fold.”
As Seattle market president, Hill will drive collaboration and coordination of KeyBank activities and resources in the market as well as serve as the face and voice of Key in the community.
Hill succeeds Carol K. Nelson, who retired at the end of May after a successful tenure as KeyBank Pacific region executive and Seattle-Cascades market president.
“It is with great anticipation that I return ‘home’ to Key. The bank has a sterling reputation in this market and I am looking forward to building on the robust foundation that Carol has created here,” said Hill.
Hill’s career in financial services spans more than 25 years, exclusively in the Seattle area where he first started his career with U.S. Bancorp.
He holds a bachelor’s of science degree in commerce and finance from Santa Clara University and an MBA from Seattle University.
An active member of the community, he serves on the board of the Woodland Park Zoo and is involved with various business organizations, including ACG and the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. Outside of work, Matt and his family love spending time outdoors and enjoy skiing, boating, cycling, and numerous other activities. He lives in NE Seattle with his wife, Sarah, their two girls – Tatum and Hadley – and the family dog, Maggie.
