Please see the below note from our Search Committee co-chairs Solynn McCurdy and Colleen Kerr with an update on the search and how you can help.
Hi Seattle Metro Chamber members,
We are writing today to provide you with an update on the ongoing search for the Chamber’s next CEO.
First, we’d like to thank Markham McIntyre for his continued leadership and the whole team for their optimism and drive, rallying as ever to adapt and deliver value for members.
We prepared for this search in Q1, and COVID-19 slowed this work for a bit, but we’ve now fully reengaged in the process, informed by new realities at a critical time for our Chamber and region.
We received proposals from seven search firms from Seattle and around the country, interviewed several, and after much consideration selected Waverly Partners to support our committee and search for our next leader. Waverly specializes in recruiting for chambers of commerce, business associations and membership groups, and brings a valuable angle to the search. With the expert guidance from Waverly Partners, the Search Committee completed a position profile and candidate outreach began in July. You can see that finalized position description here, and we ask for your help identifying potential candidates. If you already have ideas and suggestions, feel free to send those to our search firm partners: Eric Peterson firstname.lastname@example.org or Debbie Galbraith email@example.com. You can also direct candidates to review the position description on the Chamber’s website.
We expect that initial candidate interviews will likely occur in early fall. Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have questions that we can answer or insights you would like to share with the search committee. As a reminder, the members of the search committee are:
- Solynn McCurdy – BECU – Co-Chair
- Colleen Kerr – WSU – Co-Chair
- Susan Mullaney – Kaiser Permanente WA & incoming Chamber Chair
- Frank Foti – Vigor, immediate past Chair
- Gordon McHenry –United Way of King County
- Brian DeFoe – Nordstrom
- Bill McSherry – Boeing
- Rachel Marshall – Rachel’s Ginger Beer
- DeLee Shoemaker- Microsoft
- Sharmila Swenson- Symetra
- Jeff Wortley – KeyBank, Chamber Treasurer
Thanks as always for your investment and support of the Chamber, and for everything you’re doing to get through this time of challenge and create change for good. We look forward to providing you with more updates on the process and ideally introducing a new CEO before the end of this year.
All the best,
Solynn and Colleen
