To stay relevant to changing communities, many arts organizations have been developing engagement programs — that is, programming designed to reach more and different people and involve them more actively in how art is made and experienced.
Participation in the arts is a crucial catalyst in fostering engaged residents, developing opportunities for public debate, volunteerism, and lifelong learning
Come join us as we have a panel conversation with staff from The ACT Theater and Seattle Opera on how they engage with the communities they serve.

After the event, join us as we experience civic engagement in action as will go see the current ACT Theater production People of the Book!
In this world premiere play, lust, jealousy and post-traumatic stress bring things between old friends to a boil. Jason is a veteran of the Iraq War who returns home to literary glory after writing an international best-seller, a heroic account of his wartime experience. His celebrity is underscored by his marriage to Madeeha, an Iraqi woman he saved in a house-to-house raid. When he reunites with old friends, Amir and Lynn, questions start to emerge about the veracity of the book and its particular patriotic American gaze.
