Statement on Washington State Supreme Court Striking Down I-976

Restoring funding from car-tabs is critical to transit and maintenance investments

“Today’s ruling is good news for one of the most important elements of economic recovery – a strong transportation system. We opposed Tim Eyman’s I-976 because it would have gutted voter-approved investments in our region’s roads and transit. When resources fall short, maintenance and repairs are often neglected.  We look forward to working with our region’s leaders to ensure that they invest in transit service and maintenance in a transparent, accountable way,” said Alicia Teel, a spokesperson for the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce.
