Statement on Council inaction on Human Services Department nomination

"Political theater won't address our region's homelessness crisis."

Seattle Metro Chamber President & CEO Marilyn Strickland released the following statement on Mayor Jenny Durkan’s announcement that she is withdrawing her nomination of Jason Johnson from Council’s consideration at this time.

"Political theater won't address our region's homelessness crisis. We need City Council leadership committed to implementing expert recommendations and operating with accountability. Instead of approving this nomination, we get more uncertainty at the agency in charge of Seattle’s response to homelessness. Voters are tired of games and want results."
