SEATTLE – The Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce applauded the leadership of Challenge Seattle, a private sector initiative led by former Governor Chris Gregoire that includes many of the region’s CEOs, for introducing a comprehensive transportation vision for the region.
Today, Challenge Seattle, along with the University of Washington and public officials, announced several innovative strategies designed to improve our region’s transportation system. These steps include the establishment of a new Mobility Innovation Center, a partnership with the private sector, the public sector and the University of Washington. The Center will work to ensure Seattle is a leader in developing the newest mobility solutions by using applied research and best practices.
The Seattle Metro Chamber is a founding partner of Challenge Seattle. Maud Daudon, president and CEO of the Chamber, said, “A world-class transportation system is essential to our region’s global competitiveness: people must be able to easily get to school, jobs and local businesses, and goods have to be able to get to market.”
She added, “Challenge Seattle has put forward a vision based on collaboration, innovation and accountability. It’s great to see this commitment from our local business leaders toward solving one of our biggest challenges. Through good partnership, we can work together in getting it right for our region’s future.”
