Today’s featured member, Ashley Mouldon, MA, Corporate Engagement Manager for Pike Place Market Foundation, says the Pike Place Market Foundation supports the heart of Pike Place Market – its people.
Tell us about your business
By helping our neighbors who work, learn and live in and around the Market, the Foundation’s mission is to nurture a thriving Market community.
Why does this cause matter to you personally? / What keeps you committed to this work?
The Market is a magical ecosystem with nooks and crannies filled with treasures, stories, and everything in between. I feel incredibly honored and humbled to work among the people who call this place their home, office, and playground. Having the opportunity to expand our reach and resources to make a lasting impact for this community gets me excited to come to work every day. I am deeply committed to strengthening and evolving our Healthy Community Model—one that prioritizes connection, inclusivity, sustainability, and shared prosperity—so that everyone who walks through our neighborhood feels a sense of belonging and wellbeing. The Market is a special place, and I am thrilled to help ensure that it continues to thrive for future generations to enjoy.
Why did you join the Chamber?
Pike Place Market is the soul of Seattle. Beyond the fish and flowers, Pike Place Market is a village of farmers, artists, residents and neighbors. With senior housing above the Market’s storefronts and a network of social services woven throughout the historic district, the Pike Place Market Foundation welcomes and supports a diverse community in the heart of downtown Seattle.
The Pike Place Market Foundation joined the Chamber to connect with fellow downtown and regional businesses and leaders to strengthen partnerships, share resources, and collaborate on initiatives that support a vibrant and inclusive Market community. By being part of the Chamber, we aim to amplify the impact of our work, advocate for the needs of the Market neighborhood, and contribute to the long-term vitality of downtown Seattle.
How can the business community support your organization?
Businesses play a critical role in sustaining this work—and the need has never been greater. Financial contributions, whether through our Annual Partnership Program, Farm Fund campaign, or corporate grants, directly fund essential services for the Pike Place Market community, including housing stability, food access, childcare, senior support, and resource navigation. As families face rising costs and the potential loss or reduction of vital benefits like SNAP, the pressure on our neighbors is intensifying. Now is the moment for the business community to step forward and ensure that those who make the Market thrive are not left behind.
Companies can also get involved by organizing employee volunteer opportunities, participating in workplace giving campaigns, or matching employee donations to amplify impact. In-kind donations of goods and professional services are another valuable way to strengthen our programs and reduce operational costs. Organizations can also join us on a Behind the Scenes Social Impact Tour to learn more about our beloved Market community.
Beyond direct support, businesses can stand as champions of our shared vision – amplifying the Foundation’s impact, elevating awareness of our work, and collaborating on bold initiatives that strengthen the heart of our downtown. Together, we can champion Pike Place Market as a thriving, inclusive engine of opportunity and a defining symbol of our community’s spirit – where small businesses grow, residents feel a deep sense of belonging, and our community’s spirit continues to thrive for generations to come.
