Workforce Development

The Greater Seattle Chamber works at the local, regional and state levels to grow as well as attract and retain a diverse and highly-skilled workforce.

Workforce development is a driving force behind the Greater Seattle Chamber's ongoing support for a world-class education system that extends from the earliest years through college and beyond. Other efforts include the following.

PUGET SOUND CONNECTIONS
In March 2008, the Chamber's Urban Enterprise Center launched Puget Sound Connections. This initiative is designed to aid in the recruitment, retention and success of professionals of color by helping them feel welcomed, connected and valued in the community. Learn more

REGIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE
The Greater Seattle Chamber convened more than 250 business and community leaders in October 2006 to discuss strategies for harnessing human capital. Conference participants examined three places to look for employees: young people entering the workforce, people in transition, and immigrants in high-demand as well as low-skill jobs. They also discussed the public policy and business actions that would have the biggest impact for tapping these sources of employees.
