Education

Education is essential to a thriving economy and a rich quality of life. It prepares the workforce of tomorrow, helps existing workers gain new skills, and is a necessary component for an informed and engaged citizenry.

The Greater Seattle Chamber is a longstanding proponent of excellence in education. Our efforts encompass the entire spectrum of education, from early childhood through K-12 to college and beyond. While much of this work takes place on a public policy level, the Greater Seattle Chamber also supports programmatic efforts that include the following.

BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP FOR EARLY LEARNING
Play and Learn Group The Business Partnership for Early Learning (BPEL) is a coalition of King County business leaders stepping forward to invest in an innovative, research-based early learning strategy as a way to close the school preparedness gap. Over five years, BPEL will invest $4 million in research-based early learning—long enough to evaluate the programs' impact on early school years.

For more information on the program and results to date, visit www.BusinessForEarlyLearning.org.

ALLIANCE FOR EDUCATION
Alliance for Education Established in 1995, the Alliance for Education is an independent voice and external catalyst for excellence in Seattle Public Schools.

Guided by a broad-based coalition of business, civic, education and philanthropic community leaders, the Alliance for Education has helped raise more than $100 million for Seattle Public Schools. Each year, these community-generated resources bring additional training, materials, expertise and innovation into our schools—supporting the belief that all children can achieve.
