The Greater Seattle Chamber represents members' interests at the local, regional and state levels on public policies that impact competitiveness and the ability to do business in this region.
2010 Legislative Session
For the 2010 legislative session, we will focus on matters that impact our four policy priorities. We will also work closely with WashACE, a statewide coalition of business associations and chambers of commerce that promotes public policies that retain and create jobs and increase economic opportunity. WashACE has five priorities for the 2010 session:
Deliver a sustainable budget that prioritizes spending and does not raise employer costs.
Reduce workers' compensation and unemployment insurance costs to encourage job creation.
Stimulate investment in innovative technologies by reducing regulatory barriers.
Target higher education investments to programs that contribute directly to economic growth and enact reforms necessary to make Washington's public schools competitive for Race to the Top federal funds.
Maintain commitment to authorized transportation projects.
