Statement from Chamber President & CEO Phil Bussey on 787 second line
"Clearly, this is not the news we hoped for. Washington state has thousands of family-wage jobs in and related to the aerospace sector. To protect and grow our aerospace industry, we must act decisively and continue building for the future," said Phil Bussey, President & CEO, Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce.
"Aerospace is fiercely competitive. Other states and countries are taking aggressive actions to attract aerospace companies and the good jobs they provide. This isn't just about the 787 second line. It's about the future of aerospace and all manufacturing, large and small, in our state.
"Right now, we have the opportunity to seize this challenge and fight for the aerospace jobs and manufacturers we have and those we want to have. The Greater Seattle Chamber will work in close partnership with The Boeing Company, elected officials, labor and other business organizations to advance an agenda that keeps the aerospace and manufacturing sectors alive and well in Washington state."
