MISSION
Our central purpose is to create and protect a competitive advantage for businesses in Seattle and the region. These efforts fall under three major categories: business leadership, business advocacy and business development.

HISTORY
The Greater Seattle Chamber was founded on April 17, 1882 by a group of 26 business and community leaders. Since then, the Chamber has been part of nearly every major decision impacting the Puget Sound region.

MEMBERS
Current membership totals nearly 2,200 organizations of all types and sizes, and represents a regional workforce of more than 560,000 people.

Geographically, the Greater Seattle Chamber's reach extends throughout the Puget Sound region, with members as far north as Marysville and south to Olympia. All employees at member companies can take advantage of Greater Seattle Chamber resources. Membership information

KEY ROLES AND PROGRAMS

Business Leadership
The Greater Seattle Chamber convenes a broad range of regional leaders to address issues that determine future competitiveness.

Key programs include the Regional Leadership Conference, and the InterCity and International Study Missions.

The Greater Seattle Chamber extends the business community's impact by working in partnership with these separately-funded organizations: Alliance for Education, enterpriseSeattle, Leadership Tomorrow, Technology Alliance, and the Trade Development Alliance.


Business Advocacy
The Greater Seattle Chamber represents its members' interest at the local, regional, and state levels on public policies that impact competitiveness and the ability to do business in this region. Policy priorities for 2010-2011.

Much of the Chamber's policy work is advanced through member-led committees, including the Alaska Committee which dates back to the gold rush days.


Business Development
The Greater Seattle Chamber connects our members to the people, information and resources they need to grow their business and make a positive impact on the future of the region.

The Chamber organizes more than 350 meetings and events per year. Many have a professional development focus. Members also have extensive networking and marketing opportunities including a tradeshow held each spring. young professionals and promotes a multicultural business community.

Chamber members can participate in employee benefit programs including group insurance and a 401(k) plan.
