Construction in Alaska

At the March meeting of the Alaska Committee, Colonel Reinhard Koenig, commander of the Alaska District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Jim Rasmussen, power generation sales manager at GE Energy, discussed construction projects in Alaska.

Col. Koenig discussed military, environmental, and civil works projects that the Corps is working on, and also described the Corps' regulatory process. Rasmussen gave an in-depth look at how the Kodiak Electric Assocation worked to bring wind energy to Kodiak.
