Cruise associations outline industry challenges
At February's meeting of the Alaska Committee, Alaska Cruise Association President John Binkley and North West Cruise Ship Association President John Hansen gave members an overview of the detrimental effects of some regulations on the cruise ship industry.
Binkley discussed a 2007 ballot measure that has drastically increased port costs in Alaska. Hansen and Binkley also discussed concerns that certain environmental standards and emission control areas will stifle the industry.
