The Civic Alliance for a Sound Economy (CASE), a new political action committee that shares the Chamber's goals for job creation and economic development, has issued its slate of endorsed candidates for the August primary.
"A CASE endorsement is like a ‘Good Housekeeping Seal’ for jobs and the economy,” said CASE Board Chair Rich White. “It reassures business owners and voters that these candidates share their concern and commitment to economic recovery and job growth."
For the primary, CASE focused on races for Seattle City Council, King County Council and Port of Seattle Commission. CASE did not weigh-in on every race. Endorsements are based on three criteria: support for job growth, economic development and regional competitiveness. In addition, candidates were evaluated on their support for moving forward with the bored tunnel, investing in transit and transportation infrastructure, and taking a balanced approach to tax and regulation.
CASE endorsed candidates are:
Seattle City Council: King County Council: Port of Seattle Commission:
CASE is made up of more than 40 employers from sectors including restaurants, retail, manufacturing, construction, tourism and recreation, real estate, finance, professional services, transportation, and life sciences. CASE launched in June 2011 and supersedes the Alki Foundation, which dissolved in favor of CASE and the opportunity to have greater reach, relevance and support for endorsed candidates.
“CASE members represent a broad and diverse array of employment sectors throughout Seattle and King County,” said CASE Executive Director George Allen. “Our endorsed candidates rise to the top when it comes to issues important to each one of us as well as the economy as a whole.”
