What is the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce?
Founded in 1882, the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber is a private, membership-based organization. Our central purpose is to create and protect a competitive advantage for Seattle area businesses. Our strength lies in the number and diversity of our nearly 2,200 members. The Seattle Metro Chamber often works with government to improve our business climate but is not a department of any governmental entity.

Does my business need to be located in the city of Seattle to join the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber?
Not at all. Approximately 40 percent of our nearly 2,200 members are located outside the city of Seattle. Geographically, our reach extends throughout the four-county Puget Sound region.

Are dues tax deductible?
Ninety percent of annual membership dues are tax deductible as a necessary and ordinary business expense.

Are small businesses involved in the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber?
Approximately 85 percent of our nearly 2,200 members are small companies. They join the Chamber because we provide targeted, cost-effective programs and services for small business owners and their employees.

Do I need to be a member to attend Seattle Metropolitan Chamber functions?
Seattle Metropolitan Chamber programs are a benefit of membership and are intended for employees of member companies only; however, a few annual events are open to the public. Additionally, we welcome prospective members to attend one of our programs to learn more about us.

Not at all. Members consider the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber their business partner—working on their behalf at all times. Since we offer such a wide array of programs and services, you can choose your level of involvement based on your needs. Plus, all of your employees are considered Chamber members and can take full advantage of all our programs.

There are numerous ways to get involved. Attending events, participating in member-driven coalitions and committees and sponsoring programs are all ways to become more engaged and to increase your visibility in the Seattle market.
